Chats
The conversation sits on the work.
Direct messages, group chats, and topic feeds are included with Base Assist. Open a project and the feed is already there. No license to assign, no extra seat to buy.
Talk where the work already is
The Chats app is DMs, groups, and feeds inside Base Assist. A project can have a feed. A file can open in Cabinet. You do not leave the system to keep talking.
Direct, groups, and feeds
One-to-one when it is two people. A group when it is a crew. A feed when it is a topic the org should be able to find.
Public or private feeds
Public feeds can be discovered and joined by anyone in the org. Private feeds are invite-only, and they are not listed in Browse.
A feed on the job
Open project feed from the job. The team on the project is the team in the feed. Archive it from a project workflow when the work is done.
Search every message
Search conversations and message text. Jump to the line in the thread.
Files, threads, and mentions
Attach up to 10 files per message. Reply in a thread. React, pin, and mention people, groups, @here, or @everyone.
Incoming webhooks
Name a webhook and post into a group or feed from another app or script. The message shows up as that app, not as a person.

Talk to one person
A private thread between two people in the org.

Groups
Talk as a team
A named or unnamed chat for more than two people.
- 01Create a group and add the people who need it.
- 02Share files, mention a workforce group, or pin the plan.
- 03Leave when you are done. The owner can remove people.
Feeds
Follow a topic
A #feed for the organization. Public so people can join. Private when it should stay invite-only.
- 01Create a feed, or browse public feeds you have not joined yet.
- 02Post updates the whole topic should see.
- 03Archive it when the topic is over. You can still read.
On the job
The project already has a feed
Open project feed from the job header. Privacy follows the project. The team on the job is the team in the feed.

Share a spreadsheet in chat and open it in Cabinet Canvas. The file stays in Cabinet. The conversation stays on the message.
Workflows
A workflow can post into a project feed or archive it. The update lands where the team already reads, instead of in an email they will miss.
BaseAi
Open the BaseAi app on a project when you want a draft. Review it, then post it to the project feed if it is ready.
Help Desk
Keep the ticket in the Help Desk app. Use the Chats app when the same people need a live thread next to the work, not a separate messenger.

Messaging is included. Plus is one organization price for guests and retention. Calling is a seat, because voice and video cost real minutes.
